Ergodyne GloWear 8353 Hi-Vis Softshell Water-Resistant Jacket - Type R, Class 3

The GloWear 8353 Hi-Vis Softshell features a 100% polyester shell with PU coating for water- and wind-resistant protection from the elements. A soft polar fleece lining adds warmth and comfort for cool environments and thumb loops trap heat and keep sleeves in place. Unlike typical boxy and bulky hi-vis gear, this lightweight jacket is designed for a more athletic fit.

Built for the worksite, the removable hood is large enough to be pulled up over hard hats and easily detaches when not needed. Adjustable hook & loop cuffs seal out cold and allow for comfortable wear with gloves. For a snug and custom fit that keeps cold air out, this softshell also features an elastic bungee waist and a long tail that won’t ride up. A zippered closure makes for easy on and off.

COMPLIANT

This Type R Class 3 reflective coat features ANSI/ISEA 107-2020-compliant 2” reflective stripes for low-light and nighttime visibility. Type R Class 3 garments feature more fluorescent background material and reflective material than other classes to ensure maximum visibility and safety in all conditions.

Insulation performance is measured by CLO ratings—which is a unit of thermal resistance that indicates insulating ability. The higher the CLO value, the higher the amount of warmth a piece of clothing provides.

To determine temperature ratings, CLO factors, Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET) and the time or duration of a task are considered. MET levels are categorized into 3 groups:

• “Low” range (0-3 MET) // forklift driver, equipment operator
• “Moderate” range (3-6 MET) // picking & packaging, delivery drivers
• “Vigorous” range (>6 MET) // concrete work, tower climber

Some warehouses and facilities are more manual in nature, leading to higher MET levels, while others rely on automation, resulting in lower MET levels.
